Creative Writing Workshops

at Misty Hill Lodge

Requests from former students for ongoing creative writing classes led me to begin a series of workshops at Misty Hill Lodge, my 1930s log cabin home atop Braddock Mountain near Frederick, Maryland.  Misty Hill Lodge is an ideal retreat for writing, and participants enjoy the comfortable, rustic setting.

Each session includes:

bullet2 writing exercises
bulletA craft-of-writing discussion
bulletFriendly “give and take” with fellow writers of all ages and backgrounds
bulletCoffee, tea, and light refreshments

Depending upon interest, specific workshops focus on aspects of poetry, writing for children, the memoir (retrospective writing), journaling, the short story, longer fiction, or creative nonfiction. Recent topics of discussion have included:

Choosing a Point of View

Writing for Children

My goal for these workshops is to offer both an inviting setting and an opportunity to move your writing skills to a higher level. These sessions are not lectures or critique groups, but actual workshops in which you will explore ideas, expand your knowledge of the craft of writing, engage in a lively exchange with other writers, and, above all, write.
